Chlamydia trachomatis antigens
Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted disease with serious potential reproductive complications for both men and women. Infections are caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, an obligate intracellular parasite with a gram negative-like structure. Since Chlamydia infections are often asymptomatic, treatment with antibiotics can be delayed leading to problems such as pelvic inflammatory disease in women and sterility in men. Early detection and screening with diagnostic kits offers significant potential for limiting the spread of this disease and for reducing the risk of future reproductive complications.
AbD Serotec is pleased to introduce three new preparations of Chlamydia trachomatis antigens for use in diagnostic assays. All cultures are propagated to maximum density in McCoy cells using high grade fetal calf serum. Preparations are inactivated with 0.034% formaldehyde to render them non-infectious and to improve antigens stability.
- Traditional formulation (MPP007) - Cells are disrupted and mechanically homogenized in tissue culture medium.
- Saline lysate (MPP008) – To minimize contaminating proteins, cells are carefully washed and mechanically disrupted in a reduced volume of buffered saline (PBS). Cellular debris is removed by centrifugation.
- Ultra concentrated lysate (MPP009) – A more concentrated version of the saline lysate which yields highly purified bacteria.
These antigens are suitable for use in an ELISA with our anti-chlamydia lipopolysaccharide (LPS) monoclonal antibodies. The performance-guaranteed antibodies listed below recognize genus-specific epitopes within chlamydia LPS and have a proven track record in diagnostic kits.
